Again... This is only my opinion...
Invention is to 'create','make'* 'new'** things, objects or etc. which are not already there...
*Notice that I use quotation marks. The reason is that the verbs may be wrongfully used.
**I use quotation marks again. the reason is that since the thing, object or etc. have not exist, it is unnecessary to use the word new.
Examples? There are many... Here is to list a few
1) Light bulbs --- Humphry Davy invented the light bulb. (Who does not know that... those who thought it was Thomas Edison please just get this in your head and do NOT make the same mistake again)+
2) Paper --- Before you think it is invented by some random Englishmen++ invented paper, think again. The first paper known to history was made in around 3500 BC by the ancient Egyptians. The paper closer to the kind we use today was REinvented+++ in China in about AD 705 by a scholar called Ts'ai Lun.Knowledge of his work spread slowly to the Arabs in the 8th century and into Europe only in the late 14th century. (So in short, Englishmen could not have invented the paper, as they are citizens of England which is a part of Europe)++++
3) The Law --- Yes, it was(is) invented.
4) The Rule --- (See The Law)

.
?) There are so many things that listing all is just too much work... If you wanna find out more about invention, go search for it yourself.
+The first electric light was made in 1800 by Humphry Davy, Much later, in 1860, the English physicist Sir Joseph Wilson Swan found that a carbon paper filament worked well, but burned up quickly. In 1877, the American Charles Francis Brush manufactured some carbon arcs. These arcs were used on a few streets, in a few large office buildings, and even some stores. In 1879, Edison discovered that a carbon filament in an oxygen-free bulb glowed but did not burn up for 40 hours. Edison eventually produced a bulb that could glow for over 1500 hours. Lewis Howard Latimer improved the bulb by inventing a carbon filament. In 1903, Willis R. Whitney invented a treatment for the filament so that it wouldn't darken the inside of the bulb as it glowed. In 1910, William David Coolidge invented a tungsten filament which lasted even longer than the older filaments.
